Good Marketing, Bad Marketing

Written on 22 August 2021

Good marketing does not feel like marketing. Bad marketing feels like marketing even to people who don’t know marketing.

Good marketing is helpful. Bad marketing is disruptive.

Good marketing educates, entertains. Bad marketing is boring, irrelevant.

Good marketing is the right message to the right people at the right time. Bad marketing is the wrong message to the wrong people at the wrong time.

Good marketing builds trust. Bad marketing destroys trust.

Good marketing leads to repeated purchases. Bad marketing leads to one-off transactions.

Good marketing focuses on the long term. Bad marketing focuses on right now.

Good marketing leads to conversations because people love it. Bad marketing also leads to conversations but because people hate it.

Good marketing makes people remember the brand. Bad marketing is forgotten.

Good marketing inspires. Bad marketing makes you feel bad.
