Aeron and sunk cost

About 10 years ago, when I had a nice-paying job, I was tempted to buy a Herman Miller Aeron because everyone seemed to swear by one. I was working from home, and it felt justified to spend on an expensive, high-quality, branded chair. But when I tried it out at a local shop, I didn't like it. So, I sat on a $10 wooden stool for many years.

People who discovered I was sitting on a wooden stool kept persuading me to get a "proper" chair. Two years ago, I caved and bought a second-hand Aeron for about $700. I wasn't blown away when I got it, which should have been a sign. But I begrudgingly sat on it, even though I found it rather uncomfortable. I paid $700 for it! Everyone says it's amazing! Maybe I just haven't configured it well!

Today, I finally pushed away the Aeron chair and dragged over my $10 wooden stool. I already feel much better on my trusty wooden stool. I no longer fidget every few minutes to find a comfortable position.

You know what, I should have listened to myself.
